How Does Addie Work?

Understanding the magic of the Ledger.

Addie Gets To Know Students

Addie, securely connects to student information systems and learns about the student through grades, test scores, teacher report card comments, and lots more. Securely.

Then Addie engages with the student based on this knowledge, like a very engaged human counselor would, if they had time to read thousands of words on each student before a meeting.

Addie gets students to share their interests, achievements, and personal stories. These interactions help Addie gather detailed, unstructured data where Addie gets to know the student.

Signal vs Noise & The Ledger

Addie uses this unstructured data to help counselors weed through mountains of data and turn it into useful information.

Addie compiles data into a comprehensive student profile, known as the Ledger. This profile includes conversations between Addie and the student, human counselor, academic records, all teacher report card comments, extracurricular activities, personal narratives, and more.

The Ledger serves as the foundation to help counselors personalize each student's postsecondary journey by finding "fit."

Finding Fit

Using the Ledger, Addie helps students find fit. Addie has a memory, and can have an ongoing conversation with students about finding the right school, the right narrative, the right scholarships, that all have the right fit.

Addie starts by identifying  colleges where the student is most likely to get admitted and thrive. This match is based on the student's strengths, interests, and the specific criteria of various institutions.

Crafting The Narrative

The fact that different colleges are looking for different traits can mean that a student applying to 10 schools will require 10 different narratives.

Addie helps students craft compelling personal narratives by analyzing the Ledger to identify key themes and stories that showcase their unique qualities. It then helps the student build and tailor each narrative to highlight traits specific schools are seeking, personalizing applications for every institution based on Addie's deep knowledge of what schools -and scholarships -  are looking for.

Personalized Guidance
by Real Humans

Addie gives counselors more time—the one resource that can't be replenished. By organizing insights from each student's Ledger, Addie gives human counselors the insights that would otherwise require hours of digging.

Addie is the personal assistant that you can ask, "Addie, I'm writing a letter of recommendation for Zack Jones, what are Zack's best qualities? Include a quote from a teacher."

Addie can read thousands of words about Zack Jones and return with in answer in seconds.

And she won't roll her eyes when you ask her to do it again.

Overcoming Admission Challenges

Why Schools Need Addie

Explosive Growth in Applications

Over the past four years, college applications have soared by 65%, making the competition fiercer than ever.

Declining Admission Rates

Many top schools now have admit rates below 10%, increasing the difficulty for students to stand out.

Unclear Admissions Criteria

The holistic admissions process makes it challenging for students to understand what truly matters in their applications.

Power of Personal Narratives

Personal essays and recommendations are critical, increasing a student's admission chances by up to 10x, but many students lack the support to craft strong narratives.

Wealth Advantage

Wealthier students are twice as likely to be admitted compared to their less affluent peers with the same grades and test scores, due to access to expensive private counseling.

Overburdened Counselors

Counselors are overwhelmed, whether managing 600 public school students or 30 private school students with 20 applications each. The math is the same: counselors need more time.
